Speech Therapy
Speech therapists (also known as speech-language pathologists) evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with a wide variety of conditions and disorders that affect oral motor skills, swallowing, and speech, language and cognitive abilities. We consider treatment a collaboration. The speech therapy team at Gadsden Regional Medical Center works closely with physicians, dietitians and nurses to evaluate each patient’s swallowing function and recommend safe feeding tactics when needed.
The speech-language pathologists at Gadsden Regional Medical Center specialize in assessment and treatment of individuals of all ages with communication, cognition (thinking), memory, problem solving, voice disorders, hearing and/or swallowing problems due to developmental delay, progressive or chronic neurological processes, traumatic brain injury, cancer and other diagnoses. We provide customized, age-appropriate therapy services designed to facilitate communicative independence.
