At Gadsden Regional Medical Center, we offer behavioral health services designed to treat emotional and psychiatric conditions.
Our purpose is to provide a supportive environment to enable individuals to learn how to cope with the problems and pressures they face.
Providing quality care is our goal. We seek to offer the most effective and individualized treatment for each patient.
Gadsden Regional Medical Center offers a wide range of behavioral health treatment services for adult and geriatric patients. We have separate units for both populations and serve both voluntary and involuntary admitted patients with a primary psychiatric diagnosis.
Nursing care is directed and accomplished through the psychiatric nursing process: assessment, teaching/administrating, supervising, delegating and evaluating care and practice as well as implementation of nursing standards of care.
Using a multidisciplinary approach, the treatment team consists of (but is not limited to) psychiatrists, nursing staff, social workers, counselors/therapists, ancillary department staff (rehabilitation services, respiratory, pharmacy, dietary) as required, along with the patient and family/significant others.
Our programs focus on providing acute psychiatric stabilization and treatment.
The Adult Inpatient Program is a 34-bed secure area, serving patients between the ages of 19 and 65. Discharge planning is provided and considered essential in the patient’s plan of care.
For referrals and admission criteria, call (256) 494-4260. This phone number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Pathways program is a 15-bed secure area, serving patients 65 and older. Younger patients may be deemed appropriate for admission to Pathways if they require major assistance with daily living activities and/or are considered to be severely cognitively impaired. Discharge planning includes placement and follow-up care as deemed necessary by the multidisciplinary team and plan of care.
