GRMC is getting ready to Go Red for Women

January 25, 2010 – Gadsden Regional Medical Center is getting ready to Go Red for Women on February 4.

Go Red for Women is an American Heart Association initiative designed to raise awareness of heart health. GRMC’s 6th Annual Go Red event will again combine food, fun, fellowship, fashion and vital information about heart disease. The goal for Go Red is to educate while entertaining.

Go Red 2010 is moving to a new venue – Center Stage in Rainbow City, and it will again feature dinner and entertainment, local merchants displaying their wares and a fashion show with local models dressed by local retailers.

It’s the perfect opportunity for a “girls’ night out,” and one with the potential to help save lives.

Dr. Bryan W. McGwier of Southern Cardiovascular Associates will be the keynote speaker, providing information about the dangers of heart disease, its treatment and how to recognize its warning signs.

Go Red for Women is a national initiative working to change the perception that heart disease is a “man’s disease,” according to the American Heart Association. The “nearterm” goal of Go Red is no less than a 25 percent reduction in coronary heart disease and stroke risk by the year 2010, according to the AHA Web site.

GRMC is hosting Go Red to contribute to that goal in our community, with information about recognizing and reducing the risks factors for heart disease in our lives and the lives of our loved ones.

With GRMC’s Go Red for Women, Gadsden-area ladies are invited to have a good time, while working toward that goal.
